"I have a birth date of 24 July 1815 for James Glass who was born in Somerset, England -- comes from Robin Griffiths of Durban who is researching the Glass family. From my copy of M.D. Nash's "The Settler Handbook" page 123, James came to SA aboard the Kennersley Castle as part of George Southey's 1820 Settler Party with his parents Thomas and Ann Glass. He was 4 years old at the time. In 1872 when he married Sarah he was a farmer but had preciously been a builder. This was from his marriage cert referance CORY MS 17 070/2, Marriaage Register 1849 -1896: Trinity Presbyterian Church, Grahamstown, South Africa, Entry 138, LDS Film # 1560913 transcibed by Ellen Stanton, 28/1/2003. Witnesses at the wedding were G.H. Carney, Anna Carney"

1st wife of James Glass. Had eleven children. She was the sister of Elizabeth
Carney who married George Shone. After she died James Glass married Sarah Shone
who had looked after the children for some time after Susannah died. Hence the
difference in their ages.
