After war Nick first farmed in UK. Re-joined the army and went to Kenya. Became game warden. Was responsible stating drug darting of rhino and other big game by helicopter to prevent their eradication by poachers.
Wrote three published books. Came to South Africa to bring rhinos to Addo. Invited to join Kruger Park, there two years, retired to write. Invited to do definitive survey on Knysna Elephants. Settled permanently in Knysna.
