Grandmother of Noel E. York. Daughter of Walter Bain, a Rhodesian pioneer,
and Lucy Hulley.

Birth certificate issued at Dortrecht which is situated on the border of
Basutoland S.A. Lived in Fixburg Basutuland where her father was a trader and
farmer. He and his family emigrated to Rhodesia in 1894 and are Pioneers. Ruby
then a young girl went with the family.

s-1 Son of York of the county of Northamptonshire, England married Elizabeth
Roberts

s-2 Due to wife's chest complaint William York moved North to the Kimberley
area where he set up an establishment along the lines of an English country
gentleman. His son Federick Button was christened on the farm Dutoitspan.

He was the manager of the Caladonian Diamond Mining Company.

Elizabeth ROBERTS

She was the daughter of a merchants family trading in leather goods -- boots &
shoes -- of Liverpool, England. Date of arrival in South Africa unknown. Lived
in Ladysmith, Natal then moved to Kimberley and set up an establishment on the
lines of a English country gentleman - received a quartlerly income from
England.

Wife of Walter Carden Bain. (RIN 622) They had seven children.

It took them six months to travel from Queenstown to Bulawayo by ox waggon.
They arrived on 12th December 1894.

Bain and Rosenfels family were in Bulawayo Laager in 1896. Rosa's father "BOET"
was born there.
