According to Beddy she was a slave. Slaves were given the surname Van de Caap
in those days. When she married Geoerge Rex of Knysna she had had a "union"
with Ungerer, Hendrik Christian and had four children by him (Ungerer). The
names of these children were Emerentia, Hendrik, Christje and Carolina. The whole early history of the Ungerer and Rex family is rather complex and
contradictory therefore the many books on the Rex family should be consulted. For ease of analysis the "Union" of Roosje Van De Caap and Hendrik Christian
Ungerer will be treated as a marriage.
