Hendricus Leonardus Aspeling

Hendricus Leonardus married twice. His first wife was Anna Louisa Du Toit and he later marrried Hester Francina Oerlaaarly.
!The number of children that Hendricus Leonardus had varies from the different sources.
" In the will of Hendricus Leonardus ASPELING and Anna Loisa DU TOIT drawn up on 21 January 1807 three children are mentioned: Erik Gustaf, Anna Cloudina Loisa, and Gabriel Stephanus. During the processing of the will (from 21 Jan 1807 to 31 August 1807 when it was filed at the Orphans Chamber) the name of Gabriel Stephanus was removed and replaced with "overleden" (deceased). Then namess of the other children that should have expected here, are absent. From this one can deduce that they did not survive up to that time."
!Hendicus Leonardus Aspeling was baptized 31 Oct 1773. He was a Burger Cape Town.
!There are two Wills filed for Hendricus Leonardus. At the time of the first one (Ref. MOOC 7/1/54;20) drawn up on 21 Jan 1807 by Jean Henrij Roselt the names of three children are mentioned: Erik Gustaf; Anna Cloudina Loisa and Gabriel Stephanus. The name of the latter is deleted with a note "overleden" (deceased) added. This will was filed on 31 Aug. 1807, i.e. after the death of his wife Anna Louisa DU TOIT. In his second Will (Ref. MOOC 7/1/70;28 & 29) - drawn up 7 Jan 1815 by Jacobus Petrus de Wet, when he was "ziekelijk" van ligchaam" (physically sick) and filed on 18 Aug 1815 - reference is made to only 2 children ie Erik Gustaaf and Anna Claudina. At the time his wife was already deceased. He leaves, among other possesions, to these children 2 "lijfeigenes" (slaves) namely Apollos of Batavia and Lydia of Mosambique and their children Roset, Saliem, Sabia, and Rabia. In the inventory of his estate the name of another slave, Onverwagt of Mosambique is added to the above.
!He had two wives Anna Louisa Du Toit daughter of Gabriel Du Toit and Claudina van Hoeting and Hester Francina Oerlaarly.
